rep before she was recruited by West Virginia.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Recruiting Has Become More Intense On the Coaches&#8217; End<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bad publicity is something college coaches are well aware of these days.\u00a0 Nearly every\u00a0morning they are welcomed with online news of another college student-athlete or coach that has made a bad decision and been caught.\u00a0 This troubling trend has coaches squeamish about everything from who they bring in as assistant coaches to the recruits they make offers to each year.\u00a0 One slip-up and their program could be on the front page and their job as well as career lost and ruined.<\/p>\n<p>The rise in athletic talent in the past five years has been quite remarkable.\u00a0 Division III teams look more like their DII counterparts, DII now are mid-major caliber, and the mid-majors\u00a0 are catching up to major college programs.\u00a0 Parity has become the norm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Still, athleticism is only one part of what a coach must now search for and pinpoint in their recruits.\u00a0 Character has taken a new and more significant position.\u00a0 Ask any college coach and he or she will say that their recruiting jobs have become increasingly more\u00a0directed toward the behavioral side of a potential recruit.\u00a0 They are having to dig deeper and learn more about what a recruit does off the field, court or track, what his or her relationships are like and how they are viewed by their schools and communities.<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>NSR<\/strong>, we do the front work for college coaches by scouting prospects in person and by requiring character references from them prior to enrollment.\u00a0 Our scouts intently observe a prospect&#8217;s performance and personality.\u00a0 When we run across potential recruits that demonstrate poor interpersonal skills or a difficult attitude toward their coaches, teammates or parents, we pass.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because when we recommend a high school athlete to a college coach we know that we are establishing a relationship built on trust.\u00a0 That coach must be able to trust that we have done our job properly and vented the student-athlete completely.\u00a0 It&#8217;s our obligation and we take it very seriously.<\/p>\n<p>When a high school student-athlete is posted on the <strong>NSR <\/strong>Web page, college coaches know that a large part of their job has been accomplished.\u00a0 While other scouting services enroll any prospect that will fork over cash and an address, <strong>NSR<\/strong> is very careful to only enroll and represent prospects whose athletic ability, academic standing and character will be assets to a college program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 Recruiting Has Become More Intense On the Coaches&#8217;
