Being Evaluated Is Your Purpose This Summer<\/strong><\/p>\n

Playing in travel or club showcase tournaments this summer is not enough if your expectation is to be evaluated and recruited by college coaches.\u00a0 You don\u2019t get on \u201cwhite boards\u201d just by playing in these tournaments.\u00a0\u00a0 It does not work that way.\u00a0\u00a0 No, nope, nada, nah-nah-nah-nah.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Confused?\u00a0 Okay, check this out.\u00a0 Back in their offices, coaches have what are called \u201cwhite boards.\u201d\u00a0 These are dry erase boards which the coaching staffs keep lists of their current top recruits in each graduating class, by position.\u00a0 The only way you get on a coach\u2019s white board is to have gone through the initial evaluation process by one of the coaches on the staff.\u00a0 Your grades have to be close to the school\u2019s admission requirements.\u00a0 Then, you have to demonstrate, on paper, that you meet the staff\u2019s other criteria for size, speed, second season participation and stats.\u00a0 If you pass all those hurdles, which in most cases is something to be proud of, then the coaches will want to look at video on you.\u00a0 And, if they can get video, which is sometimes a total pain to get, and you meet their expectations, then you get on the white board.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Coaches DO NOT go to tournaments, combines, meets or matches to discover talent.\u00a0 They go to verify the talent of the prospects on their white board!<\/p>\n

So how does your name get up there?\u00a0 Well, it doesn\u2019t happen simply by making and playing on a travel team.\u00a0 Too many players, not enough time.\u00a0 That\u2019s for sure.\u00a0 You don\u2019t get your name up there because you\u2019ve made All-Conference, All-Tournament or All-State.\u00a0 Nor do you achieve this honor by sending a coach an online questionnaire or email.\u00a0 But, there is a secret to it.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
