as a means to sell their products and services.\u00a0 Their message is\u00a0typically slanted toward the need for their products and services.\u00a0 The presentation is usually done by someone who is a professional speaker or someone with a recognizable name but who has limited knowledge of current recruiting.\u00a0\u00a0 This approach is little more than a disguised sales pitch to a captive audience.\u00a0 To make matters worse,\u00a0these organizations will charge $1,200 or more just to conduct the session.\u00a0 Then, with a list of participants in hand, the company&#8217;s\u00a0telemarketing division will do &#8220;follow-up&#8221; calls to the participating families attempting to sell them a &#8220;college exposure\u00a0program.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There is another way which is more about education than selling.\u00a0 Knowing the difference between these two approaches is imporant as\u00a0families contemplate which\u00a0option better\u00a0fits their needs and expectations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>American Coaches Federation<\/strong>\u00a0has established as one of their primary goals to provide\u00a0informational and educational recruiting seminars nationally.\u00a0 These are free to participants.\u00a0 And, the <strong>ACF<\/strong> does not allow services\u00a0to be sold at their seminars.\u00a0 To accomplish this goal, <strong>ACF<\/strong> has partnered with <strong>National Scouting Report<\/strong> to conduct recruiting seminars\u00a0since <strong>NSR<\/strong> has professional, athletic scouts on the ground throughout the United States and in several foreign countries, all of whom have agreed follow <strong>ACF<\/strong> guidelines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Each <strong>ACF<\/strong> seminar speaker is tested on a variety of college recruiting rules, they must have a thorough knowledge of how recruiting works in every sport in today\u2019s competitive college athletics, and they must have impeccable character and credibility.\u00a0 After meeting these qualifications, the presenters\u00a0are certified by <strong>ACF<\/strong> and allowed to conduct seminars in their name.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Recruiting is more complex than most prospects, their families and most\u00a0high school and club coaches realize.\u00a0 Because college recruiting continues to change\u00a0in significant\u00a0ways\u00a0every few years,\u00a0 it is extremely important that families not only become familiar with the rules, but also know what they are up against when it comes to the recruiting competition and, moreover, how to qualify for an athletic scholarship and how to prepare for the rigors of college athletics.<\/p>\n<p>When asked to attend a recruiting seminar, it is important for anyone considering attending to ask the following questions:\u00a0 A) Will I be educated on recruiting rules and how the recruiting process really works?\u00a0 B) Will the speaker try to sell me a &#8220;program?&#8221;\u00a0 B) Will I have to pay to attend this seminar?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With clear answers to these important questions, families can better determine if taking the time to attend a recruiting seminar is truly in their best interest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The reason for these seminars, which are put on for high school sports teams, club sports teams, and other sports related organizations, is to educate prospects, coaches, and parents in the recruiting process.
