She made the decision official on April 13.

“I went through National Scouting Report; Rocco Pelino (Nevada State Director and college scout for NSR) sent video and a brochure on me around the country to programs that were looking for a setter,” Krupp said of the search that connected her to Methodist.

Credit should be given to Krupp’s strong work ethic, according to Carson coach Justin Malley. “I think she has worked really hard and earned her opportunity to play in college,” Malley said. “She knew what she wanted to do and she didn’t wait for anybody to give it to her. She went out and seized the opportunity herself. I’m very excited for her, and very proud of her.”

Krupp, who stands 5-foot-8, was one of the court leaders for a young Carson squad that went 4-10 in Sierra League play last fall. She contributed a team-high 419 assists, but statistics didn’t show her true value to the team.

“Her leadership and quality of play only got better as the season went on,” Malley said of Krupp’s senior season. “She has learned to be a leader, and not just by speaking. She leads by example and attitude.”

Krupp’s athletic ability has been evident in other sports. In addition to volleyball, she competed for Carson’s track and field program (she was part of a state-qualifying 4×400 relay team in 2008) and played basketball. To show further excellence, work on her portrait photography senior jproject resulted in top honors in Carson’s 2010 Reflections Contest photography division and top honors at the state level.

Still, there has been no doubt what her true passion is.

“I’ve worked really hard for this since I was in seventh grade (at Carson Middle School),” Krupp said. “I knew I wanted to play college volleyball.”

Krupp liked what she saw during her visit to Fayetteville.

“When I went back there for my visit, I fell in love with the place,” she said. “I’m going to major in environmental management and they have a good program, so that was another reason I decided to go there.”

Methodist is coming off a 2009 season under coach Eddie Matthews in which it posted 19 wins, the most since 1992. The Monarchs play in the USA South Athletic Conference.

“They already have a setter there who is a junior, and basically, I’ll be learning from her next year. And it looks like I will still be able to come in and at least share time my freshman year,” Krupp said.

Malley expects she will continue to improve in college.

“I still don’t think she has reached her potential,” Malley said. “She has room for improvement, and she works hard enough to make that happen.
