Good Intentions Aside, Your Coaches Can’t Get the Job Done<\/strong><\/p>\n

Time is not on your coach's side.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

“Our coach is handling all that for us.”\u00a0 How many times have we heard that sad recruiting story?\u00a0 Too many to count.\u00a0 And then, when those same\u00a0parents and kids look up as the senior year arrives and nothing has been done, it’s a pitiful thing to watch as reality sets in and panic strikes.\u00a0 “Is it too late?”\u00a0 “How can we get coaches’ attention?”\u00a0 “If we’d known this was going to happen, we would have signed on with you two years ago.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you are prospect whose coach has told you that he\u00a0or she will handle your recruitment for you, beware.\u00a0\u00a0There’s only about a 10% chance that will actually occur.\u00a0 That’s one in ten chances that the coach will do what\u00a0is really necessary to get your\u00a0profile and video into coaches’ hands.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Scare tactics, you ask?\u00a0 Well, in this truth you should be scared.\u00a0 If\u00a0a high school or club\u00a0coach is your only method of reaching out to college coaches, you are in serious trouble.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Here are\u00a0four excellent reasons:<\/p>\n

  1. Coaches are not schooled<\/strong> in how to properly promote you to college coaches.\u00a0 Knowing what to send, when to send it and\u00a0then how often to send it (again) is\u00a0crucial to\u00a0your success in getting\u00a0a coach’s attention.<\/li>\n
  2. High school and club coaches do not know\u00a0enough\u00a0college coaches<\/strong> to\u00a0help you get a scholarship offer.\u00a0 Their interaction with college coaches has been minimal over the\u00a0years\u00a0and that has\u00a0depended on having legitimate prospects on their\u00a0previous\u00a0teams.<\/li>\n
  3. They do not have enough time\u00a0and money<\/strong> to\u00a0conduct a proper promotional campaign for you along with other players who may need\u00a0promotional assistance.\u00a0\u00a0Perhaps one coach’s budget in\u00a0five thousand will have a line item\u00a0designated for marketing players.\u00a0<\/li>\n
  4. Time.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Coaches work during the day and have other obligations\u00a0outside their responsibilities to the team.\u00a0 They simply don’t have enough time to adequately give\u00a0you the attention you deserve.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
