<\/a>\"\"<\/a>With all the Super Bowl brouhaha over, thankfully, we turn our\u00a0attention to basketball and tournament season.\u00a0 Although still a couple\u00a0to a few weeks away,\u00a0teams are nonetheless already scrambling\u00a0for\u00a0higher seeds.\u00a0 In high school hoops,\u00a0tournament basketball is arguably\u00a0the most exciting event of the year.\u00a0 The air\u00a0becomes thick with\u00a0fan anticipation as the regular season winds down.\u00a0 Must-win games are being contested seemingly every night.\u00a0 Coaches are secretly planning for their teams’ first round match-ups.\u00a0 The odds of winning it all are remote for all but a few, yet soon thousands upon thousands of prep players will be sitting in darkened classrooms watching the DVD of Gene Hackman’s\u00a0gray Chevy glide across Indiana farmlands in the opening scenes of Hoosiers <\/em>as coaches reach deeply for added motivation.\u00a0 College teams are gearing up for their March Madness run, the one they must\u00a0put together over the season’s final month to be eligible for post season play.\u00a0 Practices pick up in intensity.\u00a0 Coaches bark a little louder.\u00a0 Players shoot a\u00a0few more shots after\u00a0practices are completed.\u00a0 Coaches return to their offices after lunch to find players watching tape on their own.\u00a0 It’s almost tournament time and\u00a0none of us can\u00a0bare the wait.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
