kid 9\" src=\"\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Parents-kid-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a>Direction #1:\u00a0 You&#8217;re doing nothing.\u00a0<\/strong> &#8220;My kid is good enough that\u00a0college coaches will find him or her.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Lowdown:<\/strong>\u00a0 Sorry in advance if this hurts your feelings, but you don&#8217;t really know what you&#8217;re talking about if you are taking this non-action course.\u00a0 Unless your child is a high DI-caliber athlete, coaches will not find him or her.\u00a0 Two things are in the way.\u00a0 First, coaches no longer\u00a0use high\u00a0games as a\u00a0recruiting source.\u00a0 Second,\u00a0travel or club tournaments have\u00a0gotten so massive that unless a coach\u00a0already knows about your kid prior to arriving at a tournament, chances are remote that\u00a0he or she will somehow be discovered.\u00a0 Coaches\u00a0go to tournaments to\u00a0evaluate kids they already know\u00a0about.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Course Correction:<\/strong>\u00a0 Do something, anything, but don&#8217;t sit around and do nothing.\u00a0 Your kid has one chance in a lifetime to be recruited to play college sports.\u00a0 It will be one of the biggest regrets of your life if\u00a0you waste this\u00a0opportunity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Coach-talking-to-parents.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2653\" title=\"Coach talking to parents\" src=\"\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Coach-talking-to-parents.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a>Direction #2:<\/strong>\u00a0 <strong>You&#8217;re following your coach\u2019s advice.\u00a0<\/strong> &#8220;My kid&#8217;s high school coach is doing\u00a0all the work for us.&#8221;\u00a0<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Lowdown:<\/strong>\u00a0 It may be a shocker to you, but high school coaches are all but out of the loop in today&#8217;s recruiting environment.\u00a0\u00a0They are well-meaning, but the fact is that they are usually severely limited by time and finances.\u00a0 They can only do so much because of their teaching and coaching duties; they can only reach a few colleges because they only know a few; and, they do not have money set aside or allocated for promoting athletes.\u00a0 Sadly, there are some coaches whose egos get in the way, too.\u00a0 They\u00a0believe that if you enlist outside help in getting info to colleges about your kid that it will\u00a0cast a poor light back them.\u00a0 It&#8217;s as\u00a0if\u00a0it&#8217;s pointing\u00a0out\u00a0what they should have been doing.\u00a0 In reality,\u00a0promoting your kid to colleges is <em>not<\/em> their job, nor should you expect it of them.\u00a0 They are coaches, not marketing experts.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Course Correction:\u00a0<\/strong> If you are one of the lucky few people whose coach is actually doing something to\u00a0promote your kid, thank your lucky stars, but then search for ways do more because what the coach does will <em>not<\/em> be enough.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Coach-talking-to-parents-club.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Coach-talking-to-parents-club1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2660\" title=\"Coach talking to parents club\" src=\"\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Coach-talking-to-parents-club1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"315\" height=\"185\" \/><\/a>Direction #3:\u00a0 You&#8217;re depending on your travel or club organization.\u00a0 <\/strong>&#8220;Our club team promised to handle all that for us.&#8221;\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Lowdown:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, it may look that way, but look deeper.\u00a0 There\u2019s less to this promise than you might think.\u00a0 For the fortunate few, some club and travel organizations have begun to include a &#8220;promotional&#8221; element in their presentations to players and their parents.\u00a0 That&#8217;s fine and good, but an individual promotional effort for your child will not be included in this plan.\u00a0 Someone who&#8217;s doing the work (part time, mind you)\u00a0<em>may<\/em> call a few coaches, but\u00a0actually only a very few will be made on behalf of <em>your<\/em> child.\u00a0 Be realistic.\u00a0 Club and travel teams\u00a0are limited in their effectiveness because if they send info out it will be for a group or list of players all at once and then to only a few coaches.\u00a0 Your child will not be given special treatment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Course Correction:<\/strong>\u00a0 Anything is better than nothing, of course, but if you want\u00a0your kid&#8217;s information to reach every coach in the area, region or around the country, you will have\u00a0to go beyond your club\/travel organization\u2019s promises.\u00a0\u00a0Do more by finding\u00a0the\u00a0very best, experienced promotional\u00a0company available to properly and effectively market your kid directly to college coaches.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Parents-on-computer.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2657\" title=\"Parents on computer\" src=\"\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Parents-on-computer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Direction #4:\u00a0\u00a0You&#8217;re\u00a0posting your kid&#8217;s profile\u00a0on free recruiting Web sites.<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8220;All these sites will\u00a0promote my kid for\u00a0free.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The\u00a0Lowdown:<\/strong>\u00a0 Oops!\u00a0 You fell for it.\u00a0\u00a0Merely posting a\u00a0profile on a free site is not actually promoting your kid.\u00a0 It may make you feel good and your kid&#8217;s profile may look good,\u00a0but nothing is actually happening, as you will soon see.\u00a0 We call it the Experience of Nothing.\u00a0 Second, college coaches don&#8217;t surf the\u00a0Web for prospects.\u00a0 They aren&#8217;t stupid, you know.\u00a0\u00a0<em>Anybody<\/em> can put a profile on a free site.\u00a0\u00a0 There is no verification whatsoever about\u00a0your kid&#8217;s abilities, grades and character.\u00a0 Do you <em>really<\/em> expect a college coach to find your kid among all the others and then take your word for what&#8217;s been posted?\u00a0 No, so what&#8217;s the point?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Course Correction:<\/strong>\u00a0 Get real.\u00a0 There are\u00a0only two ways to\u00a0promote\u00a0your kid the right way.\u00a0\u00a0You can either\u00a0spend every minute\u00a0of your free time sending packages to\u00a0college coaches with video included, or you can spend your money wisely and\u00a0enlist a proven, professional\u00a0promotional company to get the word out about your kid.\u00a0 Choose a company which will\u00a0give you personal attention with a personal advisor, not somebody you don\u2019t know who\u2019s sitting in a cubicle somewhere in the bowels of a corporate office.\u00a0 Pick a company which\u00a0will aggressively promote your child in a variety of ways and which can edit and post your kid&#8217;s video highlights and game footage online for coaches to evaluate.\u00a0\u00a0Select a company which will allow you to make changes to your kid&#8217;s profile on the spot, that is, from your home or workplace.\u00a0 In other words,\u00a0no matter what else is being done for your kid,\u00a0go through the most thorough route.\u00a0 Get going.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t waste this opportunity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Get Things Rolling, but Head In the Right Direction Over the next few paragraphs, we&#8217;re going to give you some\u00a0potential recruiting directions you can take with your kid.\u00a0 Check which one you\u00a0are already on.\u00a0 Then, check out the lowdown on what you&#8217;ve chosen to do.\u00a0 Finally, read and follow our recommended course corrections.\u00a0 Perhaps we &#8230;
