{"id":2559,"date":"2011-01-05T10:50:03","date_gmt":"2011-01-05T16:50:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/\/?p=2559"},"modified":"2011-01-05T10:50:03","modified_gmt":"2011-01-05T16:50:03","slug":"did-you-see-what-i-saw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsr-inc.com\/scouting-news\/did-you-see-what-i-saw\/","title":{"rendered":"Did You See What I Saw?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Perfect Football Was Played in the Orange Bowl<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frank-Beamer.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2563\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2563\" style=\"width: 102px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frank-Beamer1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2563\" title=\"Frank Beamer\" src=\"\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frank-Beamer1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"112\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2563\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Frank Beamer could only watch as the Cardinal dominated.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Frankly, I found it unbelievable.\u00a0 What Stanford did to Virginia Tech in the second half\u00a0of the 2011 Orange Bowl could easily be called the Massacre in Miami.\u00a0\u00a0Although the first half\u00a0seemed\u00a0even, at least on the scoreboard, there were hints that the Cardinal\u00a0had the upper hand.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve seen the Hokies play\u00a0any of their final eleven\u00a0games this season, you knew\u00a0they\u00a0were struggling on both sides of the ball.\u00a0 It was not a Tech-type first half.\u00a0 Their speed was being negated at every position.\u00a0 They were being\u00a0beat off\u00a0the snap.\u00a0 Things just weren&#8217;t as smooth as usual and there was a very good reason for it, too.\u00a0 First, they weren&#8217;t playing another ACC lap child.\u00a0 Second, and more significantly, Stanford was about to kick their be-hinds in a very big way.\u00a0 Yep, the first half was only a warm-up to\u00a0what would go down as\u00a0one of the most humbling experiences you will ever see a Frank Beamer team go through.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2562\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2562\" style=\"width: 104px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Owen-Marecic-Off-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2562\" title=\"Owen Marecic Off 2\" src=\"\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Owen-Marecic-Off-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"114\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2562\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Owen Marecic played both ways against the Hokies.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From the outset of the\u00a0second half, the Hokies looked as if they were\u00a0in slow motion compared to the Cardinals&#8217; overdrive gear.\u00a0\u00a0It was no contest.\u00a0 Long runs were made with no one touching the ball carrier until 20 yards downfield.\u00a0\u00a0Pass plays\u00a0happened where the receivers were so open it was startling.\u00a0\u00a0On defense, quarterback sacks and tackles behind the line of scrimmage were made play after play.\u00a0 Really, after the first five minutes there was not a moment in time in the second half when anyone sitting in the stadium, standing on the sidelines or watching from home or in a sports bar\u00a0who honestly gave Virginia Tech\u00a0even a slight chance of taking over the game.\u00a0\u00a0It was over.\u00a0 \u00a0And\u00a0Stanford had a guy going both ways!<\/p>\n<p>There were stars dressed out in cardinal and white, to be sure, but even the high-profile players had to acknowledge\u00a0the sublime homework turned in by the the Stanford support players in this superb exhibit of perfect football.\u00a0\u00a0This was a butt-whupping which required an entire team effort.\u00a0 You have to give it to the team, their coaches and especially to their head coach, Jim Harbaugh, for putting together 30 of the finest minutes of college football perhaps ever played.\u00a0 It\u00a0was wonderous.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Perfect Football Was Played in the Orange Bowl Frankly, I found it unbelievable.\u00a0 What Stanford did to Virginia Tech in the second half\u00a0of the 2011 Orange Bowl could easily be called the Massacre in Miami.\u00a0\u00a0Although the first half\u00a0seemed\u00a0even, at least on the scoreboard, there were hints that the Cardinal\u00a0had the upper hand.\u00a0\u00a0 If you&#8217;ve seen &#8230;
