{"id":1829,"date":"2010-10-26T15:17:47","date_gmt":"2010-10-26T21:17:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/\/?p=1829"},"modified":"2018-08-08T08:54:50","modified_gmt":"2018-08-08T13:54:50","slug":"ashley-pilsbury-lives-her-dream-with-nsrs-help","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsr-inc.com\/scouting-news\/ashley-pilsbury-lives-her-dream-with-nsrs-help\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashley Pilsbury Lives Her Dream with NSR&#8217;s Help"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>West Virginia Star Tennis Player Shares Her\u00a0Journey<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Dave Johnson, <\/strong>NSR&#8217;s Northeast Florida Area Director, immediately saw the extraordinary promise in\u00a0<strong>Ashley Pilsbury<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 A tennis &#8220;lifer,&#8221;\u00a0Ashley came by her talent honestly.\u00a0 Her dad, Eliot, was an accomplished tennis pro, at one point being ranked No. 22 in world singles.\u00a0\u00a0Later, in what would eventually become an indelible\u00a0influence on Ashley, Eliot became a tennis teaching pro in Charleston, WV, for 32 years before moving\u00a0his family to Florida.<\/p>\n<p>In an article published for the <em>West Virginia Mountaineer<\/em> and written by Julie Brown for MSNsportsNET.com, Ashley said, \u201cFor as long as I can remember I\u2019ve always played tennis.\u00a0 From the time I could walk, I had a racket in my hand. My father and I would play ping-pong and use toy tennis rackets to play with balloons.\u00a0 By the time I was six or seven, I was playing in my first tournament.\u201d\u00a0 Her brother, Dane, was also instrumental in her growth as a tennis player.\u00a0 An accomplished player in his own right, Dane and Ashley would use each other as practice partners as well as play mixed doubles in tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>After a tremendous four-year career at\u00a0Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange, Fla.
