Parker High<\/a> in Escondido, CA, has been named the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nescac.com\/sports\/wvball\/2010-11\/honors\/potw\">New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Volleyball Co-Athlete of the Week<\/a> for the week of October 4-10.\u00a0\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amherst.edu\/\">Amherst College<\/a> sophomore averaged 12.0 assists per set to lead the Lord Jeffs to a 3-0 week on the road, including a 2-0 showing in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nescac.com\/sports\/wvball\/index\">NESCAC<\/a> play.\u00a0\u00a0 She recorded 34 assists in a 3-0 win at <a href=\"www.wnec.edu\/\">Western New England College<\/a>, 46 assists during a 3-1 come-from-behind win against <a href=\"www.tufts.edu\/ \">Tufts University<\/a>, and 40 assists in a convincing 3-0 victory against <a href=\"www.bowdoin.edu\/\">Bowdoin<\/a>. Neilson\u2019s 120 assists came on 291 attempts for a percentage of 41.2.\u00a0 Callie is Amherst\u2019s first player to earn the conference\u2019s weekly honor in 2010.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Callie is averaging 2.41 digs and a NESCAC-best 10.89 assists per set during what has been a breakout sophomore season.\u00a0 She has played a vital role in helping Amherst post a 10-0 record since a 3-0 setback to Middlebury nearly one month ago.\u00a0 The Jeffs (13-1, 4-1 NESCAC) are currently third in the conference standings, trailing only Middlebury (13-3, 5-0) and Williams (15-6, 5-1).\u00a0\u00a0 The team has swept all but\u00a0four\u00a0of their opponents.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Callie-Neilson-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1665\" title=\"Callie Neilson 4\" src=\"\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Callie-Neilson-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"181\" height=\"263\" \/><\/a>Amherst was ranked seventh in the latest New England Women\u2019s Volleyball Association Regional Poll but should move up significantly after knocking off Tufts, which was ranked No. 1.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newvad3.com\/index.php\">New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)<\/a> is a group of eleven highly selective liberal arts colleges and universities that share a similar philosophy for intercollegiate athletics.<\/p>\n<p>Amherst College is located in Amherst, Massachusetts, a town of 35,000 people in the western part of the state.
