The fall evaluation period is almost here and Division 1 coaches will be on the road soon. But let\u2019s be clear\u2014coaches aren\u2019t blindly showing up to see who might catch their eye. By the time they step foot at a showcase, they already have a list. That list is built from months, sometimes years, of evaluation, communication, and film review. If you\u2019re not on it, don\u2019t expect much attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every program comes in with a watch list, and that\u2019s who they\u2019re tracking. They\u2019ve already seen video, they\u2019ve already heard about the athlete, and now they\u2019re checking to see if what\u2019s on paper matches what\u2019s on the field. The showcases might have thousands of players spread across multiple complexes, but coaches are moving with purpose. They aren\u2019t wandering, they\u2019re on a mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is exactly why so many athletes and families leave major events feeling frustrated. They see college coaches in the stands and assume opportunity will come just by being there. What they don\u2019t realize is that every second of a coach\u2019s time is already spoken for.
