But there is one thing these athletes take to a whole new level. Handshakes. Baseball and softball players handshakes are not your typical everyday high-five.

Today is National High-Five Day, so it’s a good day to take a look at baseball and softball players handshakes. We’ve all seen the post game high-fiving and hand shaking to show sportsmanship, but baseball and softball players take it to an extreme. The kind of high-fives that we’re talking about require creativity, precision and a lot of timing.

These elaborate handshakes happen every inning and sometimes every out. Baseball and softball players have different ones with almost every player on the field. Often they do these infused handshakes before games as a ritual. Sometimes it’s a chest bump or a dance move. Other times it’s an intricate hand movement that goes too fast to follow.

Either way, they are kind of cool to watch. Some collegiate baseball and softball players like to show off their high-five skills to the crowd by making a huge spectacle before the national anthem. Typically, they do them when the announcer is introducing each teams starting lineups.

Since today is National High-Five Day, we at National Scouting Report encourage you to make up high-fives or handshakes.
