“Select company”<\/em> carries special meaning\u00a0for National Scouting Report senior baseball prospect Nathan James<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-five-inch, 215-pound corner and pitcher from Newsome High School in Lithia, Florida, was\u00a0one of only 50 high school students across\u00a0the globe chosen to attend the Four Star Leadership Program<\/a> this past summer. That selection truly put James in select company.<\/p>\n

Besides Nathan’s outstanding baseball acumen, the senior boasts a 5.7 GPA (you read that correctly) and has posted a very impressive 1350 on the new SAT. He plans to pursue a degree in Engineering or Math.<\/p>\n

Last\u00a0spring, James tore up league pitching. He hit .632 with 7 home runs and 24 RBIs in 16 games<\/strong>. In his last fall tournament, his BA was\u00a0.667 with 5 RBIs for the\u00a0Hit Factory<\/a> out of Tampa, Florida.<\/p>\n

Nathan’s NSR scout, Kris Dunn,\u00a0believes that Nathan has nothing but upside potential.<\/p>\n

“Adversity is something Nathan has had to cope with and overcome. He has emerged as a great individual who would be a credit to any college program. Athletically and academically, he is ready to go to the next level,” Dunn confirmed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But a good stick and great grades are not all that make Nathan an excellent college prospect. He is also heavily involved in volunteer work in his community.<\/p>\n

“I lead by example on and off the field and make my presence known. Off the field you will find me helping in my community whether I’m tutoring students\/helping teachers at the local middle school or volunteering with numerous organizations, including the Zach Tucker Giving Hope Through Faith Foundation<\/a> (provides support to families with children diagnosed with cancer). I love to give back to my community and its veterans at James A. Haley VA Center<\/a>,”<\/em> James said.<\/p>\n
