And if you ask any one of them, they likely will tell you they\u2019ve written a million of them with little to no response. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Some prospects assume they aren&#8217;t responding because of the NCAA&#8217;s contact rules. However, many times that assumption is wrong. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">So what is right? How do prospects effectively communicate with college coaches?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Read the points below for some things to think about when communicating with college coaches.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Communicating with College Coaches<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">1.<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Who is your intermediary to the college coach? Who does that college coach trust? The person that gets your name on the desk is crucial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">2.<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"s1\">What does the subject line of your email say about your email?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">3.<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0What is the l<\/span><span class=\"s1\">ength of your email? If it\u2019s longer than one paragraph or one paragraph and a few bullets, it\u2019s already too much.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">4.<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Does your email give the coach a place to find out more? Provide a name of a\u00a0reliable person the coach trusts along with a profile, video, and a schedule of events you will be playing in, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">5.<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Does your email tell him\/her what you like about their school\/program? Make it obvious that this email isn\u2019t just a copy\/paste template.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">6.<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"s1\">What are your selling points? Are you 6 feet tall throwing 66 mph? Are you a slapper running a 2.6-second home to first? Find your\u00a0selling points and use them in your communications with college coaches. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Bottom line? <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The college coach is your target demographic. You (the prospect) is\u00a0the product. Therefore, you need to appeal to him or her in less than five seconds, or you\u2019ve lost their attention. Get their attention and keep their attention. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">You can do that with the right contact at the right time, the\u00a0correct wording and content, and the\u00a0right length of communication, as mentioned above.
