{"id":1128,"date":"2010-09-02T04:11:47","date_gmt":"2010-09-02T10:11:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/\/?p=1128"},"modified":"2010-09-02T04:11:47","modified_gmt":"2010-09-02T10:11:47","slug":"bob-rigney-honored-for-pioneering-prep-scouting-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsr-inc.com\/scouting-news\/bob-rigney-honored-for-pioneering-prep-scouting-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"Bob Rigney Honored for Pioneering Prep Scouting Industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em><strong><em>30\u00a0Years and Counting, NSR Continues Founder&#8217;s Legacy\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>NSR<\/strong>\u2019s 30-year anniversary of helping high school student-athletes attract the attention, receive evaluations and get recruited by college coaches starts this month as we chronicle the extraordinary legacy created in 1980 by founder <strong>Bob Rigney<\/strong> (pictured) and carried on today by the Rigney family.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1139\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1139\" style=\"width: 171px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bob-Rigney2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1139\" title=\"Bob Rigney\" src=\"\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bob-Rigney2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"181\" height=\"286\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1139\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bob Rigney&#39;s The Scouting Report was the first of its kind in America.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dubbed \u201cThe Father of High School Scouting Services,\u201d Mr. Rigney\u2019s original concept is no longer a cottage industry, but instead has become a multi-million dollar viable force in high school and college sports.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Rigney&#8217;s decision to promote his eldest son, Curtis, to college coaches by putting together a profile sheet and then sending it to\u00a0college coaches was really nothing new.\u00a0 To get their children promoted beyond word of mouth to college coaches, distributing profiles was a widely used method by parents\u00a0in the day.\u00a0 But, it&#8217;s what Bob did with the\u00a0concept which uniquely qualifies him as someone who in essence changed how high school scouting\u00a0and recruiting operated.\u00a0\u00a0 Wanting to duplicate the tremendous response Curtis received, other parents in the area asked Bob to promote their sons to colleges, too.\u00a0 Bob saw a need and the potential for a business.\u00a0 He would scout, interview and enroll prospects for a fee, and then\u00a0promote those prospects to college coaches, also for a fee, in\u00a0what would be called, <strong>The Scouting Report<\/strong>.\u00a0 Bob was\u00a0well positioned to start up this business because of three key factors:\u00a0 1) He already owned a printing business, so his start up and operating costs would be minimal; 2) He\u00a0already had\u00a0extensive experience in coaching and professional scouting; 3) He\u00a0was an experienced salesman.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scouting Report<\/strong> was\u00a0established and the rest, as they say,\u00a0is history.\u00a0 &#8220;When I saw the tremendous response that Curtis got from colleges and the tremendous desire that other parents had for doing the same thing for their sons, it didn\u2019t take long for my entrepreneurial spirit to kick in,&#8221;
