Tylar is ranked No. 1 in her class with a 4.0 grade-point average and scored 28 on the ACT.

Wilson couldn’t say enough about the All-State catcher in his scouting report to college coaches.

“Tylar Vernon is the ideal prospect — the definition of a game-changer. A 2018 catcher with athleticism and experience at SS and 3B, but so good behind the plate you’ll want her there quickly. The kid is the total package. A 3-hole hitter with clear home run ability. Awareness and quickness behind the plate make it obvious she’s several steps ahead of most catchers. Aggressive but smart in gunning runners. Covers the short game great. Laterally quick and blocks well.”

Tylar may be most proud of her academic achievements. In her freshman year, she earned All-A Honor Roll while garnering awards in World History, Spanish I, Pre-AP Algebra I and Physical Science. She plans to pursue Sports Medicine in college.

“Growing up in a Christian household, I know how blessed I am to be able to play softball and have the support of my parents and little brother,” Tylar wrote in her personal message to college coaches. “My biggest attribute is my coachability and my drive. I always try to do everything the coaches tell me. As for my drive, I always want to be the best, whether it is in softball, academics or a simple game of cards. I am always striving to win.”

Wilson, National Softball Director for NSR, expects great things in Tylar’s future.

“Tylar is the firecracker on the team who sets the tone for effort, focus and performance,” Wilson wrote. “A real methodical kid with a deeper intellectual understanding of the game. Ahead of the curve, knows what she wants at an early age, and is preparing herself for success academically and athletically. A 2018 C/UT that needs to be on all major recruiting boards. Could stand to get a little faster and increase arm strength a little, but will come. I wouldn’t use such strong verbiage about Tylar if I wasn’t confident you’d see the same when you see her live.”

PICKS FOR YOU

5 Bad Habits That Can Turn Off College Coaches

3 Mistakes No High School Athlete Can Afford To Make

Warning: Parents Should Not Play Waiting Game

Top 5 Reasons Athletes Are Under-Recruited

Some athletes’ exceptional talents can’t be denied when their opportunity arrives.
