NSR scout Tanya Richardson (Washington) knew she had found the real deal in Kennedy-Sue Robillard.

See, NSR scouts all across the United States are constantly on the ground scouting games, matches and meets, combines, showcases and tournaments for high school student-athletes who have all the tools to advance to the college level.

When Richardson first saw Robillard, a 2017 grad from Puyallup High School in Puyallup, Wash., she was immediately struck by Kennedy’s presence on the diamond and in the dugout. Some kids have it, some don’t, and in this case, Kennedy’s attitude and leadership stood out, characteristics which cannot be overlooked by a scout.

Once Robillard’s impressive grades (3.98 GPA) were added to the mix, it was obvious that this was a young lady NSR wanted to represent to college coaches.

Robillard, a pitcher and right-side infielder, with solid stats in both, says that getting to the next level has been a long-term endeavor.

“Ever since I was young, I knew my dream was to play softball in college as a pitcher,” Kennedy confirmed. “I have been working ever since to accomplish this. I believe that no matter where I go and what I do, I constantly give my all and work harder than anyone out there.”

Her coaches back that up in their comments about Robillard.

Coach Amy Wilson says, “Kennedy is a positive, loud, and influential leader and has great composure through all circumstances. She is the first kid to grab gear or to hop up and clean up equipment after practice. She practices hard, listens intently, and is always striving to be better.”

“Kennedy Robillard is a coaches’ player, as well as a players’ player. She does what is ever asked of her by her coaches for what is best for her team to compete and is a great servant leader teammate,” Coach Tony Batinovich added. “Kennedy also works hard to be the best players she can be and her off-season dedication and self-sacrificing for her teammates make (her) a special person and player.”

Last season Kennedy, a three-year varsity starter, hit .391. In the circle, she struck out 74 hitters in 99 innings while posting a 1.33 ERA.

“I know I am not the fastest pitcher around, but I can make the ball move and get teams off balance with my offspeed pitches,” Kennedy says about her pitching. “On the field, I work to give my team a chance to win by getting a lot of ground balls and balls in the air for them. In the past couple years, while improving my skills, I have delved deeper into the game than just the throwing and catching. Being a pitcher, I can read the hitters, the situations, and try to develop a strategy in my mind.”

Richardson, one of NSR’s top softball scouts, says in her scouting report on Robillard, “Kennedy is a talented pitcher with five game-ready pitches. She is impressive with her off-speed control and can consistently hit her targets. A leader both on and off the field, Kennedy easily steps into a leadership role on both her travel and school ball teams. She is extremely hardworking, dependable, consistent and a student of the game determined to perfect her craft.”

Softball is just part of what Kennedy brings to the table for college coaches. Pride is a major ingredient in the Robillard package.

“I take pride in everything I do out on the field and in the classroom. I maintain a 3.98 GPA and am taking 3 AP classes this year as well as being a part of our ASB (Student Council) and leadership team,” Kennedy asserts. “I love being able to carry over what I learn at school to the field.”
