Ashley Furst does a lot of things off the field including playing the cello.
Ashley Furst is a cello player, student council member and cheerleader in addition to a top softball player.

Review Ashley Furst’s resume and you will see the quintessential National Scouting Report prospect.

The 2019 softball prospect from Boone, Iowa, does not allow athletics to define her. Yes, she is a really good corner infielder, but Ashley is first and foremost a student.

“I currently have a 3.88 GPA and am working on bringing that up even more,” she wrote in her personal message to college coaches. “I work hard in the classroom and challenge myself with advanced classes. I am a well-rounded person. I love to read, like all types of music, play the cello, participate in my high school student council, and am a high school basketball cheerleader.”

When NSR scouts discover athletes such as Ashley, they know college coaches will flock to their doors. That is, if they know about them.

Being promoted by NSR gives Ashley a clear advantage because her profile and video are available to college coaches 24/7, not to mention that every year she can choose specific colleges to receive her personal brochure.

When NSR area scout Scott Woodcock discovered Ashley, he was instantly impressed with her play as well as what she brings to the recruiting table.

“Ashley is a quick, agile, corner infielder with a cannon for an arm which is currently at 58 MPH overhand,” he wrote in his NSR scouting report. “She has nice, smooth feet and a quick transition to go along with her strong softball IQ. She has good size to go with it and will only get stronger and faster with age. At the dish, Ashley is a force and has huge home run pop in her stick. Ashley is a phenomenal teammate and a major competitor who is willing to put it on her back for the betterment of her team. She is going to be a tremendous asset to any program.”

Her stats prove that.

As Iowa high school teams enter the postseason (yes, they play in the summer), Ashley is hitting .515 with an on-base percentage of .598 Her impressive slugging percentage of .765 makes her a formidable offensive weapon for the Boone High School Toreadors.

Her ultimate goal is to play in college.

“I work hard on the softball field,” Ashley said. “Playing college softball is my biggest dream and there is not anything that I want more.”
