Local Scouts Bio Information
Aaron Osteen
Area Scout
aosteen@nsr-inc.com
Aaron grew up in Black Mountain, North Carolina, home of sporting greats like Super Bowl champ Brad Johnson, NBA great Brad Dougherty and UNC Basketball Coach Roy Williams.

Throughout his youth, athletics played a huge roll in his life.  He came from a family with a deep athletic heritage and was taught early on the importance of sports.  Aaron eventually went on to lead his high school athletic program in multiple categories. Attending Charles D. Owen High School, a school rich in sporting tradition, Aaron played football, soccer, basketball and tennis for Owen. In football winning numerous awards including all conference and specialist of the year in '98 and '99. In soccer he was selected all conference in '98 and '99, and All Western North Carolina in 1999. In tennis winning all conference in '97-'00, his doubles team was top 4 in the state in '99 - '00, and was selected as All Western North Carolina in 2000

After graduating from Owen, Aaron ascended to play at the collegiate level and was a 4-year starting Goalkeeper for Coker College Men's soccer, in Hartsville, SC.  He was team captain, team MVP twice, Defensive MVP once, and broke the school saves record with 325 career saves.

He graduated in 2005 with a B.S. in Sport Management and has over 3 years of coaching experience both at the youth and high school levels.  Aaron has also worked as a coach with the Clemson Soccer Academy as well as various youth clinics around South Carolina.

"As a former collegiate athlete I understand the importance proper exposure plays in getting an athletic scholarship at the college level. The majority of high school and club coaches simply don't have the resources or the time to spend on getting their athletes noticed by college coaches. This is where NSR can make a huge difference. As an NSR scout, I work tirelessly to locate the best athletes in Coastal SC and give them the exposure that only NSR can provide so that they too can realize their dream of playing at the next level."

Aaron currently lives in Charleston and can be reached via his cell (404) 433-5223 or at email aosteen@nsr-inc.com

Amanda Walling, a native of Charleston, S.C., played four years at Radford University in Radford, Va. Before graduating in 2006, with a degree in Business Management.  Amanda was an integral member of Radford's first ever 40-win season. She batted .319 with a team-high seven home runs, 33 RBI, 32 runs and 60 hits. She also posted a league-best .995 fielding percentage and caught a pitching staff with the tenth best ERA in the nation. Radford made its first appearance in a Big South Championship game with Walling behind the plate.

Walling was selected as a Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) all-state second team catcher her senior season, in addition to earning All-Big South First Team honors in 2005 and 2006. She finished her career ranked fifth in school history with 168 hits and 11 home runs.

Amanda has spent the last year as one of the Assistant Softball Coaches for St. John's University in Queens, NY.  St. John's is a division I school, in the Big East Conference, which competes against top teams such as DePaul, Louisville, Notre Dame and the University of South Florida.  Amanda worked mainly with the catchers and the outfield.  She also assisted with scouting and recruiting.

"After both playing and coaching college softball at the division I level I know what it takes to make it as a college student athlete.  I will strive to bring in only the best prospects that excel both in the classroom and on the field.  So many athletes get over looked because they do not know the process of how to get recruited by colleges.  I would like to help change that, let us at NSR show you the way and help find you the perfect fit for your college experience."
